FAQs

Does my dog need to be spayed or neutered?

Any pups over 7months of age must be spayed or neutered to visit. There is some research that Giant Breeds may need to delay a spay or neuter, but the consensus and recommendation right now by the AVMA is the science supports spay and neuter of all pups. In a group setting, like daycare, this is more important. An intact pup, at full maturity, will put off a different scent than every other dog in the group, based on higher levels of hormones. This can lead them to be ostracized or even attacked by the group. If you and your vet decided against spay/neuter, we do offer a smaller daycare group that consist of more structured play at our downtown location, Bark Boarding. Bark Boarding does not require spay/neuter due to the smaller group size and structured daycare 2.0 style.

Does Barklyn Heights have cameras?

We do! While your dog is in our care you will have access to the daycare cameras and boarding cameras overnight. These are viewable through the Gingr For Pet Parents app.

Are the dogs always watched while in daycare?

Absolutely! We currently are using a model of one team member per 10-15 pups. Team members are always in the groups with the pups. We also have cameras that can be monitored by other team members on site such as our receptionist or GM.

What vaccinations are required?

We require: Rabies, DHPP or DHLPP, Lepto if not in DHPP combination, Bordetella, Canine Influenza, and a yearly Fecal Test. Many of these are more than your vet may give as standard vaccines. Many initially are a series, with yearly boosters there after. Your pup may visit after their first dose of each vaccine.

Are dogs separated by size?

We currently have three play groups here at Barklyn Heights. While we do not separate pups into these groups by only size, we do take it into account. We separate the groups based on play style, age, energy, size, and friend groups. All pups in daycare must be small dog friendly.

How much time will my dog get to play?

We are an open play daycare - meaning your pup is in the play are with the other pups for the day.
